Melissa Allan - Becoming an Accredited Residential Conveyancing Paralegal

This month we hear from our Accredited Residential Conveyancing Paralegal, Melissa Allan, who gives us an insight on her journey within the firm.

I began working with McSherry Halliday in March 2017 when I started as an office junior. From there, I progressed to working in the conveyancing team receiving training and expanding my knowledge in that area.

I was given the opportunity to study and obtain a Specialist Paralegal qualification which would allow me to further progress my career within the firm. I commenced my studies in Residential Conveyancing in 2020, passing all my assignments, and sat my final exam on 14th March 2022.

In April 2022, I became a Registered Conveyancing Paralegal with the Law Society of Scotland and, as I had been working in conveyancing for so long gaining experience, I achieved accreditation in July 2022.

As an Accredited Residential Conveyancing Paralegal, my role entails progressing transactions from taking client’s initial instructions through to conclusion of the transaction. I work together with the Solicitor throughout and continue to gain experience in my role.
Assisting clients through perhaps one of the most stressful times of their lives and helping them purchase, potentially, their dream home is very rewarding and fulfilling.

I enjoy being a Paralegal and am very much looking forward to seeing how my future will progress within the firm and the law.

If you require assistance with the sale or purchase of a property, Melissa and the team would be happy to assist you. Please be in touch via the contact form on the website or telephone us on 01294 274097.
