McSherry Halliday LLP is an award-winning, well-established law firm serving clients based primarily in Ayrshire. We are looking to recruit an experienced conveyancing paralegal.

– Prior experience in Conveyancing is essential.
– Hours: 35 hours per week (part-time will be considered)
– Salary: based on experience
– Expected start date: end of August 2021

 

Who we are looking for: –

The role will primarily involve remote home working in which a laptop will be provided. As key member of the Conveyancing team, you will be responsible for your own caseload and shall provide an exceptional service to our clients.

 

Your key duties will include: –

• Managing your own cases from start to finish, which cases are overseen by the solicitor involved in the case.

• Such cases shall include residential/commercial sale and purchase, new build purchase, sale/purchase of land, security work, re-mortgage, transfer of title and discharge of security.

• Drafting legal documents such as dispositions, declarations, offers, security documentation and formal letters.

• Taking client instructions.

• Ensuring compliance with the lender’s CML handbook.

• Preparing letters, completing dictation, general typing and recording attendance notes.

• Arranging appointments and generally communicating with clients through email and telephone calls.

• Reviewing title deeds and standard conveyancing reports. Drawing any issues to the attention of the solicitor involved in the case.

• Drafting applications for registration with the Registers of Scotland.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience: –

• Excellent written, typing and communication skills.

• Natural ability to build rapport with clients.

• Deliver first-class service to our clients.

• Ability to professionally handle challenging situations, should they arise.

• Exceptional organisation skills and ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

• Prior experience using a cloud based case management system is desirable, although not essential as training will be provided on this. The firm is moving towards a completely paperless system.

• Ability to manage and prioritise work load effectively.

• Liaise with the partners and other departments within the firm when required.

 

The position will involve a three month probation period.
